A Royal interest at Alliance Addition
Aeon was proud to welcome a pair of developers from Abu Dhabi to the Alliance Addition. The gentlemen, representing the PAL Group of Companies and the Royal Group, are interested in bringing elements of a sustainable construction method utilized at Alliance Addition to developments in the United Arab Emirates and Africa.

Facing up to rising homelessness
An annuhomelessness housingal federal survey has found that the recession has pushed many more families into homelessness. In 2009, 170,000 families nationwide used homeless shelters, up from 131,000 in 2007.
Passing on a lesson in giving
Though Penny Arleth no longer lives at Aeon’s East Village in Minneapolis, her experience there has inspired her to give back.

Demetrius Matthews hardly recognized his apartment after Aeon’s four-month rehabilitation of Sienna Green. “It’s such a transformation,” he says. “When I walked in the door, I said ‘Did I used to live here, really?’”
Annual fundraiser results in record funds
Kolandria Metcalf, Beyond Bricks and Mortar, affordable apartments, ArchdaleAeon hosted nearly 800 guests on Wednesday, May 12 at its ninth “Beyond Bricks & Mortar” fundraising breakfast. The event, held at the Hilton Minneapolis, raised $555,000 in funding for Aeon’s operating expenses.
National Volunteer Week is April 18 to 24
Volunteer Susan Bratt was one of 1,362 people who helped further Aeon’s mission by donating their time and talent in 2009.

The Urban Land Institute has launched a new Housing Policy Tool Box which discusses the best practices of housing preservation and production. Aeon's work and the work of other local developers are highlighted as part of the new online tool.

Aeon is closer to having all of the necessary funding for the Renaissance Box development secured, thanks to two grants received this month.
Stretching the budget to make ends meet
Joye Bell and Curtis Collins – like many of Aeon’s residents – are stretching their budgets thin to make ends meet in this challenging economy. Joye says she can’t imagine what would happen to her husband and her 13-year-old daughter if they didn’t have an affordable place to live.

Another chapter in a century-old house's life
Aeon moved a century-old house this week to make way for a new construction. Together, the new building and renovated house will provide 61 affordable apartment homes for individuals experiencing homelessness.
The life they hoped for
"I am blessed to have affordable housing," said Jama Abdullhi, a refugee who fled the unrest in Somalia and now lives at Chicago Avenue apartments.
