Aeon recognized for efforts to help homeless
Finance and Commerce - January 2008

Minneapolis-based Aeon won national recognition and a $10,000 grant last month from the Fannie Mae Foundation and the Partnership to End Long Term Homelessness in support of its efforts to end homelessness among young people.

Aeon won an honorable mention Maxwell Award, recognizing Aeon’s work in developing St. Barnabas, a long-term housing and supportive services program for 30 homeless and at-risk youth.

“Aeon has greatly improved the lives of homeless youth through their ability to provide appropriate supportive services and permanent housing for their residents. They are a wonderful example of an organization committed to ending homelessness in their communities,” said Bob Hohler, executive director of the Melville Charitable Trust and executive committee chairman of the Partnership.

St. Barnabas opened in 2005 and is a collaboration between Aeon and service providers YouthLink and Property Solutions & Services.

The Maxwell Awards recognize the work of nonprofit organizations that develop and maintain affordable housing around the country.
