Continental Hotel The Continental offers stable, affordable apartment homes for 70 formerly homeless individuals.
Aeon's Resident Connections staff assist residents in connecting with stabilizing resouces within the community, including referrals for education, employment, mental health, chemical health and budgeting. The front desk, staffed 24 hours a day, offers added support.
Development history The Continental Hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the last remaining single room occupancy residential hotel of its type in Minneapolis.
When Aeon purchased the deteriorating building, it was mostly unoccupied. The renovation was sparked by the 1991 City/County Task Force on Homelessness' goal to produce 800 affordable homes to serve homeless individuals.
The Continental Hotel is one of several Aeon properties that provide stable homes for individuals who experienced homelessness. In total, Aeon has 455 units designated for individuals who experienced homelessness.
The Continental Hotel has received several awards, including the Minneapolis Heritage Preservation Commission Award in 1995.
