Alliance Apartments and the newly-opened Alliance Addition provide quality affordable housing for 184 formerly homeless adults in a sober community. 

On-site services foster continued sobriety and increased stability. Residents who are not employed full time must actively seek work or volunteer in the community 20-25 hours a week. Sobriety is also strictly enforced since drug and alcohol abuse often perpetuates homelessness.

On-site services
RS Eden provides recovery, accountability and support services to help foster stable, self-sufficient lifestyles. On-site support groups include Alcoholics Anonymous and the Alliance Women's and Men's groups. Case Managers from RS Eden provide self-sufficiency programs, job referrals and other services to foster physical, mental and spiritual growth.


Development history
Aeon collaborated with RS Eden and Alliance Housing, a non-profit agency for homeless adults, to transform a vacant, boarded nursing home into a community asset. The Veterans Administration helped fund the development, and a number of apartments are reserved for veterans. 

Located in the Elliot Park neighborhood, the building has been a community asset since 1997. In 2008, Alliance Apartments was selected as a semi-finalist in the MetLife Foundation Awards for Excellence in Affordable Housing.

Due to the award-winning success of the original Alliance and the significant demand for this kind of housing, Aeon opened Alliance Addition in November 2010.

Alliance Addition provides 51 apartment homes in new construction and 10 units through the preservation and renovation of a 107-year-old former duplex. Alliance Addition’s new construction was awarded LEED™ Platinum certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), making the development the first in Minnesota to be LEED for Homes™ certified through the LEED Multifamily Midrise rating system (which focuses on four- to six-story buildings).

All Alliance residents will have access to RS Eden case managers, while sharing community space, resource rooms and front desk amenities.
