We Are Aeon
Committed to helping people create a home in a safe and secure environment
Aeon is an award-winning responsive nonprofit affordable housing developer. We have built or renovated more than 2,100 affordable apartments and townhomes in the Twin Cities area, which provide stability to more than 4,000 people each year – including individuals and families with low to moderate incomes and formerly homeless individuals. Aeon also preserves historical landmarks and has preserved more historic properties than any other nonprofit developer in the state of Minnesota.
Aeon does not just build affordable homes– our organization is committed to helping people create a home in a safe and secure environment and be connected to the community around them. Of our 36 properties, 26 offer additional supportive services to help residents in achieving housing stability and personal goals.
Connecting Residents to the Community
Through a respectful culture that cares, Aeon connects residents to each other, to the community and to stabilizing resources such as job training and after-school programs. These connections are powerful and transformational. As a formerly homeless Aeon resident said, “For the first time in my life, I feel like I’m part of something bigger than myself.”
Meeting a Critical Need, Changing lives
Since 1986, Aeon creates affordable apartment homes, it invests millions of dollars in undercapitalized neighborhoods and transforms blighted areas into vibrant places to live and work. Affordable apartment homes are especially critical for households with very low incomes (at or below 30% Area Median Income) who are not candidates for home ownership and have few rental options. Aeon’s mission is to meet this critical need while strengthening lives and connecting communities. Our inspiration to create long-term community assets is illustrated in our name “Aeon,” which means “forever.”
