Raise awareness about the need for affordable apartments and townhomes

Connect: Young professionals further Aeon’s mission

Get involved with Connect – a group of young professionals in the Twin Cities committed to our vision that everyone has a home.

Don’t miss the chance to network with other Aeon supporters through volunteer events like share-a-meal and happy hours. Help Aeon raise awareness about the need for affordable apartments and townhomes that strengthen lives and communities.

Connect Volunteer Opportunity: Share-a-Meal!

Connect’s monthly Share-a-Meal volunteer opportunity allows you to build your network with other young professionals all while cooking, serving, and eating a meal with Aeon’s residents. These meals are served at two of Aeon’s apartment buildings: the Lamoreaux Apartments and Continental Hotel Apartments, both of which provide apartment homes for formerly homeless adults.

Connect meals are typically served at 6:30 pm and volunteers are asked to arrive between 5:00 and 5:30 pm. The meal planning will be coordinated by a Team Lead who will also help give direction to the group onsite. An email confirmation with start time and parking directions will come out approximately one week ahead of time.

This is a great way to get to know your neighbors in the Twin Cities, eat a great meal which you have helped cook, and learn more about Connect, Aeon and the need for affordable housing in the Twin Cities. Space is limited to ten volunteers. Sign up today to make an impact on the Twin Cities Community and Aeon’s residents!

Advocate: Support policy that supports affordable housing

Every component of Aeon’s work – from building housing to serving residents – is affected by the public policy environment. That’s why Aeon teams with Minnesota Housing Partnership to bring attention to the public policy issues impacting affordable housing. And every year, Minnesota Housing Partnership develops a legislative agenda that focuses on securing resources for state-administered housing programs.

Minnesota Housing Partnership produces weekly email updates during the session and periodically throughout the rest of the year to keep advocates informed about the progress of housing legislation. Become an advocate to help change policy around affordable housing – contact Minnesota Housing Partnership at info@nullmhponline.org to receive these updates or contact Aeon for more information.
