We Are Aeon
Committed to helping people create a home in a safe and secure environment
Aeon is an award-winning, responsive nonprofit affordable housing developer. We have built or renovated more than 2,700 affordable apartments and townhomes in the Twin Cities area, which provide home to more than 4,500 people each year — including individuals and families with low to moderate incomes and formerly homeless individuals.
Aeon does not just build affordable homes — our organization is committed to helping people create a home in a safe and secure environment, and connecting them to the community around them. Of our 40 properties, 27 offer additional supportive services to help residents in achieving housing stability and personal goals.
Connecting Residents to the Community
Through a respectful, caring culture, Aeon connects residents to each other, to the community, and to stabilizing resources such as job training and after-school programs. These connections are powerful and transformational. As an Aeon resident who was formerly homeless said, “For the first time in my life, I feel like I’m part of something bigger than myself.”
Meeting a Critical Need, Changing lives
Since 1986, Aeon has created affordable apartment homes, invested millions of dollars in undercapitalized neighborhoods, and transformed blighted areas into vibrant places to live and work. Affordable apartment homes are especially critical for households with very low incomes (at or below 30% Area Median Income) who are not candidates for home ownership and have few rental options. Aeon’s mission is to meet this critical need while strengthening lives and connecting communities. Our inspiration to create long-term community assets is illustrated in the name Aeon, which is Latin for “forever.”
